French Butter Keeper
4.5"w x 4"ht. This beautifully crafted dish by Karen Good is the perfect way to store and serve butter. The container is used to maintain the freshness and spreadable consistency of butter without refrigeration. This late 19th century French-designed pottery crock has two parts: a base that holds water, and a cup to hold the packed butter which also serves as a lid. Pack the butter in the lid when it is still fresh out of the refrigerator; it is easier to mold at a cooler temp. Keep the house cool. As long as your home stays below 80°F, the butter can last up to a month.
