Paul Tanger

Originally from the east coast, Paul has lived and traveled throughout the world but is happy to call Colorado home now where he first started collecting pottery pieces before deciding to try creating his own.

Paul fell in love with the mix of art and science involved in creating ceramics, as well as the mix of form and function.  Having a Ph.D. himself in plant breeding, and eager to work with his hands outside his day job, Paul learned wheel throwing while living in Washington, DC (where his instructor was pursuing a Ph.D. in ceramic arts!). 

While he is still learning many aspects of ceramics, his particular interest is in the complexity of glazes, especially shinos and likes to create items for everyday use.
